Your Fez desert tour 2 days starts with a prompt 7am pickup from your riad or hotel by one of our multilingual drivers. As you journey into the Middle Atlas mountains, your first stop will be in the Swiss inspired ski chalet town of Ifrane, also known as Swiss Morocco, built by the French in the 1930's. Stop number two will be the peaceful Berber town of Azrou and continue into the cedar forests to see the friendly barbary apes in their natural habitat. Next, it's on to crossing the Atlas mountains, winding up and down through quickly changing terrain and vegetation, where you will eventually arrive at the town of Rissani, known as the edge of the Sahara. Continuing south, you will soon be amazed at seeing the start of the Erg Chebbi sand dunes, which can go up to 50 meters in height, and stretch eastwards towards the Algerian Sahara border. Upon arrival to Merzouga, prepare to enjoy a 90 minute sunset camel trek through the shifting dunes, to a traditional Berber desert camp. Here, you will spend an unforgettable night eating dinner, listening to music, drinking tea around a fire, and gazing at the stars.
The next morning, be prepared to be woken up to watch a breathtaking sunrise and trek back to the auberge (hotel) via camel, where you will enjoy a delicious breakfast. After breakfast, you will leave Merzouga and journey back to Fez, making several stops along the way to further enrich your Moroccan experience.
